76ers lose a close one to Hawks Sunday, BEAT THE KNICKS yesterday, Mavericks in town tonight!
Well the Sixers completed two games since my last post about them. I've been both busy and lazy but finally, the weekend is here and I'm glad I can actually enjoy a game with nothing else too pressing except wrapping presents.
Sunday's game was a tough one, the Hawks seem to have the Sixers number. I'm pretty impressed with Atlanta's Dyson Daniels. He's pretty good in 2K and he's developing nicely in reality as well. Paul George had a pretty excellent game as he scored 35.
Yesterday's game was awesome!! Tyrese Maxey returned to action from an illness and picked up right where he left off, dropping 30 points along with 9 assists. V.J. Edgecombe was absolutely crucial as well as he poured in 23 of his own while guarding Jalen Brunson very well throughout the game and in key moments. Edgecombe also showed great heart by diving on a critical loose ball in a big moment. Edgecombe really is developing nicely and it is truly so fun to watch! The Knicks are big rivals and have often beat the Sixers in recent seasons. The Knicks just won the NBA Cup and the game took place in Manhattan so, all in all this was just an extremely satisfying victory.
The Sixers are currently sitting as the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 15-11 record.
Tonight the Sixers will face the Mavericks in Philly. It will be the first time rookie Cooper Flagg faces the Sixers. Flagg was the number one overall pick and V.J. Edgecombe was the third choice in the 2025 NBA Draft! Who knows, perhaps this will be a future Finals matchup!

I'm a massive fan of Edgecombe as I've stated many times. I'm also intrigued by and growing impressed with Cooper Flagg. He's under a lot of pressure for a ton of reasons that are obvious, the biggest one being him following in the footsteps of former Maverick great Luka Dončić.
I am getting the impression that Flagg is starting to ascend now. He seems to be an intense, pretty intelligent player. On December 15th, Flagg became the youngest player in NBA history to score 40 points in a game when he dropped 42 versus the Jazz, the record was previously held by LeBron James. On top of that, after a slow start, the Mavericks are starting to win a bit. They were 5-13 at one point but they come into tonight with an 11-17 record, knccking on the door of a play-in spot, which is not a bad improvement. The Mavs still have Anthony Davis as well who can still be dominant. The Sixers need to certainly take this team seriously.
Joel Embiid is most likely out and it looks like Paul George is resting.
Tonight is going to be historic! Edgecombe and Flagg have had some mild banter in the past, should be fun! Let's go!!
