76ers fall to Heat on Sunday | Sixers seek 10th win as the Magic come to town tonight!
Well the Sixers competed fairly well on Sunday but fell to the always deep Miami Heat. The Sixers couldn't stop Norman Powell or Jaime Jaquez Jr. from having strong performances. On the bright side, Jared McCain recorded a season high 15 points! He's been showing nice progress. V.J. Edgecombe was out so McCain also had extra minutes to find a rhythm. Even though it was in a losing effort, it's pretty cool that the Sixers have such strong depth at guard. Trendon Watford also continues to exceed my expectations as he nearly had another triple double. I'm liking what I see from him.
While the Sixers have nice depth at guard, the same can't be said at the center position. They have been without not just Joel Embiid but Adem Bona as well. Andre Drummond is really solid but he can't play 48 minutes a night. Embiid and Bona are out once again tonight.
The injuries don't even stop there. Kelly Oubre Jr. has been out with a sprained LCL and Paul George is also not playing tonight due to an ankle sprain. VJ Edgecombe is also out with a calf issue. Calves are not something to be played with so I get that.
I mean, while the Sixers have been better, they've basically been up and down and these injuries are getting concerning and depressing.
I suppose this means the team must continue to rely on Tyrese Maxey to play Superman and maybe Jared McCain can show he's as good as he looked last season. Also, why not give rookie center Johni Broome a shot?
But yeah the Magic visit Philadelphia for an NBA Cup Group Stage matchup. The Sixers are currently last in East Group B.
While the Sixers are becoming quite injured, I'm curious to see how it all plays out. It seems the more pressure is put on Maxey, the more he shines. Lets hope he can have another great performance tonight. It's a very rainy night in Philadelphia, hopefully Maxey can help bring some good vibes.
