76ers defeat Warriors, fall short vs Lakers | Sixers visit Suns tonight + Jared McCain TRADED to OKC
The Sixers got the job done Tuesday with relative ease vs the Warriors. Joel Embiid did not play but Andre Drummond came in and was his reliable self as he casually posted a double-double in under 30 minutes of action. The Sixers owned the Warriors in the rebounding category as they outrebounded the Warriors 56-33. V.J. Edgecombe led all scorers with 25 points!
On Thursday unfortunately, the Sixers sort of choked in what was a fun game vs the Lakers. The Sixers had a 14 point lead at one point but it wasn't enough. Tyrese Maxey was in a bit of foul trouble and Austin Reaves put the Lakers on his back as he dropped 35 points on the Sixers in only 25 minutes of play!! Reaves was 12-17 shooting and it's safe to say he probably won the Lakers that game. V.J. Edgecombe had an INSANELY CLUTCH steal and immediately dropped a three that kept the Sixers in the game late in the fourth but yeah. Fun enough game though!
Some big news occurred for the Sixers the other day as they traded second year guard Jared McCain to the OKC Thunder for a first round draft pick and THREE second round draft picks. I like McCain a lot but that's a really strong deal for the Sixers and with Edgecombe and Grimes as solid guards behind Maxey, McCain was having trouble finding minutes. I imagine for what the Thunder gave up that McCain will see some more playing time and perhaps he'll even win a title over there. McCain is only in his second season, I think he has PLENTY to offer and a long career ahead of him. Thanks for the good times McCain! You made the first half of last season watchable!

Tonight, the Sixers remain in the west for a fourth straight game to face the Suns who remain one of the better teams in the league overall, but the Sixers are quietly establishing themselves as well with this recent stretch of strong play. Joel Embiid appears to be out there tonight which is great!! He's been playing often!
As I write this, the Sixers STILL remain in the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference with a 29-22 record but now they have a nice little gap between themselves and the seventh seeded 26-24 Orlando Magic. The Raptors sit as the fifth seed with a 31-22 record. The Pistons remain number one of course with a really strong 38-13 record.
The Suns won last time versus the Sixers, hopefully the Sixers can get the better of them this time! It's absolutely NUTTY cold out in the Philadelphia area, lucky for the Sixers they are thousands of miles away in the desert. For me, it's nice to stay warm, eat some dinner and watch the Sixers seek their 30th win!
