76ers defeat Jazz Saturday! | Back home to face Thunder tonight!
As bad as things have looked on paper, the doom has not hit the court too much as of now. Luckily the schedule has been on the lighter side for the Sixers. After Saturday's victory over the Jazz the Sixers have won two straight and four of five! V.J. Edgecombe had an absurd stat line once again especially for a rookie guard. The 2025 #3 overall pick had 22 points and 13 rebounds! V.J. Edgecombe outrebounded 2025 #5 overall pick Ace Bailey by 6 boards and Bailey is at least five inches taller than V.J.!
Major props must go to rookie star V.J. Edgecombe and Quentin Grimes and really a lot of other guys too, but those two have really kept the Sixers alive and well in the Eastern Conference! The 39-32 Sixers are in the seventh seed as of now and absolutely more than alive as teams five and six have 39 wins as well, Unbelievable frankly!! I'm actually pretty pleased. The 2024-25 Sixers would have melted and fallen apart by now 100%.
I also keep hearing positive whispers that Joel Embiid may return soon finally and Paul George should be back on Wednesday! Tyrese Maxey should be back early-mid April-ish.
But like I said, the schedule has been light but that simply won't be the case tonight. Not even close. The 2024-25 NBA Champions are in town and they're looking as dominant as ever, coming in with a 56-15 record. The Oklahoma City Thunder very well may repeat which would be impressive. I feel that SGA is slightly overrated and I don't really like their style of play much but it's clearly working so, what do I know?
It would be nice to see the Sixers pull off a mega upset but I don't really think that it's likely. But it will be valuable experience for them to face the defending champs merely weeks before the playoffs begin.
