In a previous publication I have mentioned that I am a public servant, in January of this year I completed 15 years of service, it seems like yesterday when I started working in that Institute, with which I am grateful, it allowed me for a long time to cover my needs and those of my son and even save a little, I also met wonderful people there whom I consider my friends, in short, it has been a place full of both positive and negative experiences over the years, from which I have learned and others not so much. But if there is one thing I have had, it has been a variety of bosses and that has allowed me to live a whole experience, but there really are bosses of bosses.
Mi primer empleo, no fue el que tengo actualmente y también tuve diversos jefes y en ocasiones fui muy tonta por juventud, inmadurez y falta de experiencia, pero el empleo que tengo actualmente me empeñe en conservarlo, primero porque ya era madre y necesitaba tener ese sustento para mi hijo y segundo al ingresar allí tenía la oportunidad de que al graduarme pudiera ejercer mi profesión.
Así he notado algo largo de estos 15 años, que en el mundo hay variedad de caracteres y esto no es excepción en los jefes, los cuales a veces dejan mucho que desear, como a veces son dignos de admiración, los he tenido muy buenos de hecho uno es mi favorito y siempre diré que ha sido mi mejor jefe y otros que van desde lo morbosos, chismosos, déspotas, mala gente, intrigantes, con delirios de persecución , por mencionar algunas cosas.
My first job was not the one I have now and I also had several bosses and sometimes I was very foolish because of my youth, immaturity and lack of experience, but the job I have now I insisted on keeping it, first because I was already a mother and I needed to have that support for my son and second by entering there I had the opportunity that when I graduated I could practice my profession.
So I have noticed something along these 15 years, that in the world there is a variety of characters and this is no exception in the bosses, which sometimes leave much to be desired, as sometimes they are worthy of admiration, I have had very good ones in fact one is my favorite and I will always say that he has been my best boss and others ranging from the morbid, gossipy, despots, bad people, intriguing, with delusions of persecution, to mention a few things.
Recuerdo claramente que al ingresar este empleo, mi primera coordinadora era una señora de edad avanzada, como todo ser humando tenía defectos, pero si algo tenía era que defendía su coordinación y su personal con uñas y dientes, luego llego una mujer bastante joven y de baja estatura que era exageradamente desconsiderada, no nos creía nada, nos negaba los permios para llevar a nuestros hijos a consultas, porque según ella, todo lo que decíamos era mentira, nos exponía delante de los directivos que estaban por encima de ella, muchas veces con calumnias, diciendo que no trabajábamos, éramos flojos y que se yo que más, un día descubrí gracias a una historia que ella misma nos contó que nos consideraba mentirosos porque ella en su época de estudiante era exageradamente mentirosa, pero no todo con ella fue malo, ya que se logro automatizar y digitalizar parte del trabajo que se llevaba antes de una manera muy arcaica.
I remember clearly that when I started this job, my first coordinator was an elderly lady, like all human beings she had flaws, but if anything she defended her coordination and her staff tooth and nail, then came a fairly young woman of short stature who was extremely inconsiderate, she did not believe us at all, she denied us permission to take our children to consultations, because according to her, everything we said was a lie, One day I discovered thanks to a story that she herself told us that she considered us liars because in her student days she was an exaggerated liar, but not everything with her was bad, since she managed to automate and digitize part of the work that was done before in a very archaic way.
Así, fueron pasando una gama de jefes directos que algunos querían ser tan perfeccionistas que solo lograban mantener represado el trabajo en la coordinación, otro que era tan morboso que yo evitaba a toda costa ir a la oficina y ni hablar de esa que con tal de estar bien con la gerente que era su jefa inmediata se dedicaba a llevar delante de ella todo lo que ocurría en la oficina y lo peor es que la gerente se prestaba a escucharlo y creer ciegamente en ello.
En cuanto a mi jefe favorito, es un hombre maduro y con ello no que refiero a que tenga edad, ya que es creo que un año mayor que yo, pero acá el tema es que el siempre se supo conducir, con respeto y autoridad sin necesidad de alzar la voz, si algo ocurría en la oficina eso se resolvía allí, el era incapaz de llevar eso a oídos de su jefe inmediato, ya que desde su óptica el debía ser capaz de resolver, ya que para eso lo habían designado jefe, jamás le escuche alzar la voz, si hacíamos algo que tuviera mal, nos llamaba a su oficina y muy adecamente nos hacia un llamado de atención. Lamentable no supimos valorarlo como debíamos hasta que ya no estaba.

As for my favorite boss, he is a mature man and by that I do not mean that he is old, since he is I think a year older than me, but here the issue is that he always knew how to conduct himself with respect and authority without the need to raise his voice, if something happened in the office that was resolved there, He was incapable of bringing that to the ears of his immediate boss, since from his point of view he should be able to solve it, since that is why he had been appointed boss, I never heard him raise his voice, if we did something wrong, he called us to his office and very properly called our attention. Unfortunately, we did not know how to value him as we should until he was no longer there.
Actualmente mis jefes coordinadora y director, dejan mucho que desear, para ellos ninguno de los miembros de su equipo sirve, todos estamos saboteando o conspirando en su contra, además creen que todos estamos trabajando en la calle y por ello no hemos querido acudirá sus llamados a colaborar en la oficina. Cuando en realidad todos los compañeros lo que alegan es que ese desprecio y manía persecutoria que tienen, solo ha generado rechazo y no desean trabajar con ellos.

a para despedirme, creo que un jefe si debe tener autoridad y darse a respetar, pero por sobre todas las cosas predicar con el ejemplo si fuiste un trabajador, mediocre, flojo, que te ausentabas de la oficina sin permiso para hacer cosas personales, no pretendas exigir lo que no diste. Así que un jefe debe dar para recibir, escuchar a su equipo, así la decisión final sea suya, así por lo menos el grupo se siente escuchado. Un jefe debe saber exigir y dar al mismo tiempo, ser humano y entender que a veces no podrá complacer a todos y eso traerá problemas, inconformidades y molestias, pero sí creo que hay quienes han logrado grandes resultados ya que saben ser asertivos y motivar a su equipo. So a boss must give to receive, listen to his team, even if the final decision is his own, so at least the group feels heard. A boss must know how to demand and give at the same time, be human and understand that sometimes he will not be able to please everyone and that will bring problems, disagreements and discomfort, but I do believe that there are those who have achieved great results because they know how to be assertive and motivate their team.
