El que mucho abarca, poco aprieta / He who grasps too much grasps too little
In Venezuela there is a very common expression: "he who embraces much, presses little", this phrase refers to the fact that we all have limits and if you get involved in too many activities, in none or in some you will not have the best performance, I have witnessed this in many cases in friends, family and even in myself, so I learned that I must know my limits, to say no and to decide between one thing and another.
I remember a very dear friend of mine, he is a lecturer, speaker, writer and I don't know what else, besides being a husband, father, son and the typical responsibilities of the family, but because he is involved in so many things at the same time he does not attend any of them as he should, that is to say, something always happens to him and he lives under pressure and stressed, this brings consequences of all kinds, even on a personal level, the reason not everything can be work, we must also dedicate some time to our loved ones or this will also cause problems.
Another case is that of a musician friend of mine, he played in I don't know how many bands and orchestras, he studied, had a family and I don't know what else he did, there came a time when so much demand was reflected in his health and he had to organize to give up some things and improve others.
Now, why I bring this topic to the forefront, because besides living it I have seen the affections of having too many activated, they commit themselves in three thousand things at the same time and to none they give the attention that they require or at least if they have a work team, they do not delegate responsibilities, thing that would help them a lot, since they should only make a follow-up, but when not doing it the team is limited only to fulfill basic tasks and obviously to demand the retribution to these tasks, which sometimes sometimes sometimes does not arrive on time due to the excess of occupations that the one who does not delegate has.
Now, how to avoid this? I think one of the first things is to learn how far we can go and assume, we all need to sleep, eat, go for a walk, spread out, so sometimes we must weigh and decide if we can take on a new responsibility, which takes time and tasks we must remember the ones we already have and take into account the time they take and the responsibilities that derive from them, either to take a new one or discard it or do the same with the ones we already have and take a new one.
To sum up, we must know our limits and organize ourselves, not only to avoid being inept or irresponsible, but also to avoid stress and health consequences in our lives, among other aspects, so let's learn to say no and to know our limits.
