UNDERRATED UKRAINE QUALIFY FOR QUATER FINAL AT STOPPAGE TIME.
The Euro 2020 has been full of surprises likewise the match between Sweden and Ukraine is not an exemption. The mach started on a slow and steady pace. Both teams were playing rigorously to see if they can have a goal.
The deadlock was broken when a lovely curved pass from Andriy Yarmalenko found Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko inside the Swedish penalty area and he powerfully hit the ball home for his first goal of the tournament. Yarmalenko was causing problems down the Swede’s left-hand side, but Sweden levelled just before HT, when their player of the tournament, Emil Forsberg, scored from 20 yards via a deflection off Illia Zarbarnyi. That was Forsberg’s fifth goal in five international matches and his fourth of the Euros.
Yarmalenko started the second half by squaring a cross for Serhiy Sydorchuk, but the Dynamo Kyiv midfielder's first-time effort hit the outside of the post. Sweden also went close as Forsberg twice rattled hit the pole.
The Swedes were reduced to ten men in ET, when Danielson was given a straight red card after a VAR check following a heavy challenge on Artem Besedin. With the game looking like heading to a shootout, Ukraine dramatically snatched a winner in stoppage time when a delightful cross from Zinchenko saw Artem Dovbyk power a header past Olsen to send Ukraine into a quarter-final with England in Rome on Saturday.
Congratulations to Ukraine, to qualify is not so easy after the hit game between them and Sweden.
I never believe Ukraine will make it to the quarter finals by beaten Sweden 1:2 Ukraine.
I thought they would go to the penalty shootout, but it was not like that and Ukraine solved everything in the extra time in a not very fast way, but they got their pass to the quarterfinals.
They deserve the victory after putting up a fine display there
Great victory from Ukraine. Indeed this came as a little surprise to me as I expected the Swedes to see this game out considering their superb performance in the group stage. I guess it is what it is. Marcus Danielson red card utimately cost them.
