ENERVATED ENGLAND ELIMINATE ENERGETIC GERMANY TO QUALIFY FOR THE NEXT ROUND

The Three Lions started with an underconfidence despite the fact that it was Raheem Sterling who forced Manuel Neuer into the first save of the half with a curling effort saved by Bayern shot-stopper.

Germany's first meaningful chance was seen in the 34th minute when Chelsea Kai Havertz threaded through a pass to Timo Werner, prompting Jordan Pickford to spring into action and smother smartly. In the dying moments of first half Harry Kane came close to scoring but his shot was blocked by Germany defender

Few minute after the two teams resumed for the second half Germany started in the ascendency and Pickford was called upon to make a magnificent reactive save to deny Havertz the opener after his fiercely struck effort.

The game was in desperate need of a spark and Sterling provided the Wembley faithful to break the deadlock on 75 minutes. The marauding Luke Shaw teed up the Man City forward to expertly finish from close range. Holding on to such a precarious lead, England had fortune on their side as goalscorer Sterling's uncharacteristic mistake sent Thomas Müller one-on-one with Pickford but the forward whipped it wide. Harry Kane, who had been sedentary during the match, then punished Müller’s miss, ensuring the victory as he headed home from substitute Grealish’s delightful cross to change the scores to 2-0

Great win for england. They did very well preventing the German machine from breaching their defenses. Was a little surprised the Germans couldn't register a goal.

With the way England are holding well their backline and avoiding concede a goal at all. They may go through to the final with this narrow wins. Looking forward to their next game against the winner of Sweden and Ukraine m
