# 707 - Presidential Dollars - Part 36
The Presidential $1 Coin Program honors the former Presidents of the United States of America on a series of golden colored dollar coins.
From 2007 to 2011, the coins were struck and released for general circulation. From 2012 onward, the Presidential Dollars have been struck only in the numbers necessary to meet demand from collectors.
The Presidential Dollars were issued at a rate of four different designs per year with three coins released in the final year. The order of issuance followed the order of the Presidencies. The coins were only issued for Presidents who had been deceased for at least two years.
Proof coins were also minted and this is the scope of this series. All are PF-70 UC graded by NGC.
The thirty-sixth President was Lyndon B. Johnson.
NGC graded 5,303 2015 Lyndon B. Johnson Proofs, with 2,277 as PF-70 UC. 1,191,876 coins were minted in San Francisco.
I bought this coin in 2015 for $17.77 and today's price is around $35.00.

"Lyndon B. Johnson or “LBJ” served six years in the House of Representatives followed by twelve years in the Senate. He became the vice president under John F. Kennedy and succeeded the Presidency after Kennedy’s assassination. After completing Kennedy’s term, he was elected President in his own right in the 1964 election."
The obverse of the coin features a portrait of the President.
The reverse features a rendition of the Statue of Liberty that will be used for all Presidential Dollars.

LBJ....
See how iconic the Statue of Liberty is! It was chosen to be the reverse of the presidential dollars. I am so enamored with her for what she represents. That is why when I get generic silver bars or rounds, I tend to get designs that depict the Statue of Liberty.
