Cool summer in Iceland, visual story

The summer this year is almost unbearable, isn't it? So hot, lots of storms and there was even a huge tornado in Europe, I suppose you've heard about the bad things that happened to some villages in Czech Republic... I am no fan of the heat and one of the most pleasant summers I had was during the days I spent in Iceland, in late August and the beginning of September. That was, for me, the perfect summer. I have to admit, though, even if the weather was not good, I would have absolutely tolerate it, as the views... ah, the views were simply stunning and breathtaking! As I've said many times, Iceland is one of the most photographical travel destination on our planet :)

Amazing place! It’s still very wild! Love to see the place one day.

Absolutely! About 300k local population for a land of about 100,000 square kilometers sounds quite wild :)

Wow! People don’t have children there!! Or they just migrated to other warmer places. That sounds like a very young or new country. 🙀

I've heard from one friend I have from Norway, that the language in Iceland is the one that is the closest to the original language of the Vikings. Also, from what I saw, people there live mostly by the outskirts of the island, that's probably 1/10 of the land... They are smart and very modern and progressive, they have green houses with almost all kinds of fruits and vegetables, cucumbers, oranges, pine apples, bananas... you name it :) They use the energy coming from the hot volcanic steam ;)

The Vikings! Oh! Very interesting! I dreamt a long time ago that I was a very big and noisy Viking! All dressed in fur and leathery overcoat! I must read more about Iceland; I did see some videos about their amazing green houses. They must be a very clever and resourceful people!

From what I saw there - they definitely are :)
Before covid, a nation of 330k people was attracting 1.5-2 million tourist a year ;) That requires certain skills :D

Yes, absolutely crazy weather. But I have been observing this for quite some years already. Mother Nature is obviously fed up with us and I totally understand her. I couldn´t believe my eyes when I saw the news about the tornado in my homeland. Downright nightmare stuff. Thousands of buildings were damaged, many of them destroyed completely... Incredible. Just incredible.

But I don´t want to spoil this beautiful post with more negativity. I came here to reward you for these breathtaking photos of the iconic Islandic nature ;) I really enjoyed this collection. Thank you.

Thank you!
The next day, after the tornado, the storm came to us, I was really afraid for the first time it will take away our roof. And the meteorologists said it is few times weaker than its Czech version...

You are from Austria? I think the storm went that way but it definitely was not a tornado anymore. I think the tornado only lasted for some 30 minutes but the damage it caused even during such a short time was abolutely terrifying... Cars and roofs were flying in the air as if they were from paper...

Bulgaria. I just followed the local news here, with severe storms moving from West to East. I really haven't seen such strong winds so far here. Our roof was producing strange noises but stayed intact, fortunately...
