We Are Alive! February 17th, 2023 Math + Tetris
Today my daughter completed her matrix math, a big accomplishment! She's been diligently working on this for several years, so it's a big day when she completes it!
She was struggling with math and my wife and I had a discussion on how we might be able to help these math concepts to "click" in her mind. I explained how math clicked for me when I played TETRIS. The way the blocks interconnect really helped me understand addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
We installed TETRIS on the new family PC and we had her play every day for a week for 20 minutes. Our prediction was accurate: after a few weeks of playing TETRIS, she breezed through her math pages, completely overcoming her math difficulties!
Some video games can be helpful in learning useful skills that will be useful for the rest of her life!

I thought so too, it came about talking over diner about how I visualize math sort of like Tetris pieces, next thing I know, my wife installed it and children were playing.
