John Wick (2014) Movie Review/Thoughts

I watched this movie the other day and well, I was too tired to make a post about it at the time.

John Wick became, and still partially is, a big center of meme culture when this first film was made in 2014. I wanted to see it for awhile and here I am eight years later, I finally watched it.

John Wick had a gloomy, rainy feel to it and I kind of liked it. I am a fan of Keanu Reeves, it's amazing that he's still acting in these action packed roles. I remember watching him in an awesome movie called Point Break back in 1991 and he's basically taking the same type of actor even though he's 57!!! Other movies of Keanu's I like are Constantine, The Matrix Movies and Speed was a good one too.

It was also great to see Willem Dafoe in this movie right after the AMAZING Spiderman: No Way Home movie.

This movie was beautifully simple, almost too simple but it worked out well. A lot of cool contributing factors like cool camera work, visually pleasing scenes, nice music, all just created a smooth slick vibe. Of course John Wick brought the action as well so this was all in all just a really entertaining watch. Combining all of these factors, this movie feels re-watchable. I could put this on before bedtime and just let it play and watch a few minutes when I please, if that makes sense. Nearly every moment in the movie is entertaining.

Keanu's character John Wick doesn't say too much in this movie as he mostly lets his fists and guns do the talking. The story is straightforward and tragic. Some jerks break in his house, beat up John, steal his car and most tragically murder his dog that his recently deceased wife left for him. John is a former legendary and highly feared gangster/assassin and because of the murder of his dog John basically wreaks absolute havoc by just savagely murdering anyone in his way of vengeance on the man that killed his dog.

Honestly, the whole plot is admirable and well, kind of funny.

Just a solid movie that I don't think anyone can be mad it or say sucks. Unless you are a hater anyway. Or don't like action movies, LOL. I prefer movies keep it simple rather than try too hard to be fancy or extra original. I mean, John wick is almost so simple that it's pretty original in my opinion.

One of the better action movies I've seen in awhile. Solid 8/10. I am HYPED to watch John Wick: Chapter 2!!!

John ended this film with a beautiful new puppy, people better leave it alone this time....
