Traveling the World #204 - Thalang Road @ Phuket, Thailand

Thailand is a place we visit often as the flight from Sydney is relatively close, can always find great package deals and most importantly the people there are very friendly. We prefer to visit Phuket often as the flights from Sydney are direct and is not as busy as Bangkok. We love finding a nice resort and stay there for a week and venture out once in a while to explore and find some local food. Today I bring you to Thalang Road in Phuket Town. Our resort at Cape Panwa is relatively close to Phuket Town so we drove our hired car there to explore this colourful place.

What makes this place so popular and worth the visit is the old buildings lined on Thalang Road. Each building have been preserved with some of them in bring colours bringing the street to life. On weekends, it tends to get very busy so when we visited during the weekday, it was nice to have opportunities to take some photos around the town. In this small town, you will be able to see many tourist from around the world (pre covid) taking in the history of each building as each of them are unique in there own way. Most of them are restored and have tried to preserve as many of the original character as possible.

There are a few guest houses on the stripe and lots of food outlets and coffee stores. Occasionally you see some random store selling various items which I love to drop in and have a look to see if we can find some goodies to take home. I find the prices here on some goods are more expensive than at the markets but you do have the luxury of less crowds and dust during the weekday.

There are some street art around smaller streets worth noting. Thalang Road is not very long so you won’t be spending too much time there. If you do visit during the weekend, there will be a market there sometimes so if you are driving like us you wouldn’t expect to find a park easily. This beautiful place has so much character, totally worth the visit if you are visiting Phuket.
