Hi Everyone,

A couple of months ago, we found out BB E is allergic to wheat so since then we have put him on a gluten free diet. It has shifted what we decided to eat when we go out as he used to love lots of carbs in particular pasta and udon noodles. When we were at Surfers Paradise, we took a day out to go to the factory outlet and found a store which offers gluten free donuts called Donuts Bros. We actually seen them once in Sydney but it seemed like this store has more flavours than what we were offered back at home.

Gluten free meals/food normally costs more at the restaurants and even in supermarkets so we would expect to pay a little more for these donuts compared to the ones you get in other cafes. We bought a box of 4 as a snack so we can continue browsing the stores after a quick bite. They are all made fresh so do expect to wait a few minutes for them to be made. You are also able to choose to add flavours to your donuts for an extra $1 each but we like plain cinnamon ones so we just left it at that.

After a few minutes, hot fresh donuts were made for us. Although the texture is very similar to normal donuts, the dough is still a little different as there is no wheat. For BB E, it is already a nice treat for him so we bought another box so the kids can have an extra donut each.

So rare to find fresh donuts where I am, these look great.

I think awareness and demand of gluten-free products is steadily increasing, hopefully it gets to a point where people don't feel like they're paying a noticeable premium for it.

Gluten free seems to be more 'popular' now with more people aware of it. Unfortunately we seem to be paying a premium for anything gluten free but like you said, hopefully the gap closes up a bit so people like us don't have to fork out more money just to eat
