Why Always Me

Have you ever been in a situation where you feel like there's a stronger force in play against you. It's a case where it just looks like nothing you do that day goes right, almost like God has decided to turn his back against you for a minute. My fellow Nigerians will say it's your village people who are after you. What this simply means is that you've got evil people after you because over here, majority of us has this mentality that all of the witches (or most them) reside in the village, so when your village people are after you, it literally means you're been frustrated by witches. All of this is as a result of the nollywood movies we see here of course, too many witches in their movies.

Anyways, today is one of those days where I feel like something is after me. And there's a reason I say that. Before I explain, I'm sure every Nigerian student has in one point experienced something like this in the past, and it's so annoying. Why is it that any day we decide to take a day off from school, that is when superman will visit or we will write twelve tests even though we're only offering ten courses for that semester, why?

I really need an answer to this because it's really not funny. Since the beginning of this semester, I've always attended lectures even when I don't want to. I just do it sometimes just so that I won't feel bad later in the day that I stayed home doing nothing when I should be in class, learning.

Well last week friday, I unexpectedly fell ill. I woke up and discovered that something wasn't right. I wasn't strong enough and had gone to get some drugs. It happened that it was one of those drugs that makes you really weak when you take them. I think it's because they want you to sleep or just relax and do nothing in other to let the drugs do it thing. So I relaxed and decided to not go to school on that day. Now if we've had sixty days of lectures so far, I'm sure I've attended more than fifty-five of it. I rarely miss class unless that other thing is really important, like my health.

Well fast forward to today, I get to class only to discover that this particular lecturer who doesn't even come to class, not to talk of give us assignments, came to class last Friday and gave them a class test.

The man had come to the class unexpectedly that Friday, that one friday that I fell ill, and had gotten upset that there weren't much students there. So what does he do like the evil man he is, he takes a list of those present and gives them a test. What's going to happen to the rest of us who missed the test, no one knows.

All I know is that if he fails me, my village people are coming after him.

That thing is always painful especially when you know you do not miss class but the day you decided not to go, something will happen that will make you question why that day of all day. And someone will be like village people are holding meeting against the person.. Too many Nollywood movies that have been registered in our brains to have such a mentality. Lol

I guess the only thing is to go meet the man and explain yourself and if not, you just have to study hard for the exam. This is what many students do though unless the lecturer is someone who really is serious with such a test and attendance.

Well, the plan is to get good grades during the exam. Losing the test mark will have its effect for sure but meeting the man in person isn't an option.

The man must be a strict one. I hope you get a good grades in your exam to cover up the test too. All the best.
