The Sleepover

Bayo stared at the content displaying on on the phone he held in his hand lost in thoughts. He needed to do something, and he needed to do it now. He knew daylight would soon be upon him and he needed to get faraway from this place as possible. He knew that even a soul saw him standing there then he would be the first person the police would arrest concerning the body and Bayo knew that there was no explanation he could give to the police as to why he was standing in front of a shallow grave by 3am in the morning.

Who would have thought that some few hours ago, Bayo was getting ready to have the time of his life until everything went sideways.

Bayo had invited Temi over to his place to come spend the night. Temi was a friend whom Bayo had met through another Tayo, a mutual friend. It was obvious they both felt something for each other the first time they met so they had both exchanged numbers and stayed in touch with each other, until that evening when Bayo had called Temi and asked her if she would like to spend the night at his place, an offer Temi had gladly accepted.

When she arrived, they had both sat down to talk before having dinner together. Bayo knew with the way things was going, he would be having some sex that night, he was that confident until he stepped out of the bathroom with a towel tied around his waist.

Bayo had gotten out of the bathroom to see Temi laying on the bed. “Don’t tell you’re sleeping already, lazy girl.” Bayo said as he went to put on his shirt but he stopped short when he didn’t get a response from her.

“Ahh you can’t be that deep in sleep already na.” He said and shook her, that was when he noticed that something wasn’t right, Temi wasn’t moving.

It had taken Bayo about ten seconds for him to realize that Temi was no longer breathing and all attempt to wake up proved futile, it was as if she was dead. Thirty minutes later and Temi still wasn’t moving even after emptying a full bucket of water on her, that was Bayo realized something, Temi was dead.

He had collapsed on his bed confused, not knowing what to do. “But she was fine before I went to take a shower.” Bayo said aloud as if he was talking to someone. He contemplated taking her to the hospital but he knew without a doubt that she was dead and the hospital would contact the police the moment they confirmed that too. Bayo knew the police would lock him up without even giving it a second thought, so he had come up with a plan.

“No one knew she was here, he was going to bury her.”

So Bayo had placed the corpse in his car with a shovel and had driven off deep into the night, the time was one o’clock am.

It had taken Bayo an hour to find a good spot to bury the body and another hour to dig a grave. He was about disposing of the body when he heard something vibrate in Temi’s pocket, it was a text on her phone.

“Don’t forget to give me some share of any money you will be getting tonight from Bayo ooo.. hahaha.” Bayo read the text sent by Tayo over and over again. This was bad for him, unlike what he thought, someone did know about Temi’s visit to his place and now, it was either he took her corpse to the hospital and report himself to the police or he was going have to dig another grave, not for himself but for Tayo, the mutual friend who had sent the text.
