Josh always enjoyed watching pranks on the television. He was such a huge fan of pranks that he had decided to play a prank on his widowed mom. For a guy his age, one would think he had something good going on in his life financially but aside from wanting to be a YouTube star, the twenty-three year old man had nothing else to do.

So Josh had told his friend about the prank. His friend was going to be the one with the camera, hiding in the bushes somewhere as he pranks his mom. The whole thing was set. Josh had hired a neat car that looked almost as if it was brand new. He was going to prank his mom by lying to her that he had gotten her the car that she has always wanted, it was the perfect prank and he couldn’t wait to get her reaction and post it online and become famous or at least that was what he thought.

It was finally time for the prank, the car was outside their house and his friend was hiding somewhere in the bushes. He had rented the car for two hours, that was more than enough time they needed for the prank.

Josh had gone into the house and asked his mom to follow him outside. “I have a huge surprise for you” he had told her and a huge smile had appeared on the innocent woman’s face. Josh had been right about one thing, his mother’s reaction. The woman had been so excited when Josh showed her the car and told her it was hers that she had picked up her phone and called every of her siblings, bragging to them how her amazing son had finally ended all her pains of having to wait for the bus to go to work everyday.

Everyone of them had prayed for him and they had all promised to come down to the house the next day to come celebrate and that was when it all started getting real for Josh. He had not anticipated his mom calling anyone and had thought it was just going to be between the both of them.

How was he going to explain to every one of them that this was nothing but a harmless prank. Josh could swear he had never seen his mom this happy ever since his dad died some few years back. He needed to do something, he needed to say something.

“Mom, I have something to tell you..”
