Man’s Best Friend

I get excited whenever I have to talk about pets because I’ve always wanted to have one, a dog. Unfortunately, I come from a family where pets aren’t allowed. It’s almost as if my dad has a personal vendetta against animals, once it doesn’t involve eating them (we don’t eat dogs by the way) then he’s not interested.

The sad thing is that whatever dad says is the final say so if daddy doesn’t like pets, we don’t get pets. But now that I’m grown and now live alone, I’m starting to think about getting myself one. I don’t have a particular breed in mind but if I’m ever going to get a dog pet, it would be something a bit huge. Not huge enough to kill me but huge enough to scare people away and give them second thoughts of trespassing or anything.

One animal I will never have as a pet though is a cat. For some weird reason cats freaks me out. The eyes and the way it moves is just so scary to me that sometimes I feel like all cars in the world are possessed by witches or something. And that is why whenever I see people on Tiktok or real life obsessing about their cat pets, all that crosses my mind is how do they not get freaked out by it?

To me, the best pet a man can get is man best friend, a dog. Anything other than that is just a no no for me. But then again, one main reason why I probably will never get a pet is the expenses it takes to take care of a pet. I wouldn’t want to have a pet and be broke and then feed it whatever rubbish I find, No.

I would want to be financially stable enough to always get the necessary things needed for a pet and due to the things I’ve heard from people who’ve owned pets in the past and sold it, it’s really expensive.

Anyways like I said, if I wanted to get a pet, it would definitely be a dog.
