Love and Friendship

If anyone had thought that a day would come when Ayo and David will both become strangers to each other, no one would have believed. They were always seen as twins from different mothers because of how they did almost everything together. They both were in different department in school but lived in the same hostel and where ever David was, Ayo was also there with him.

But everything started to change when David started dating Ella. She always seemed like a nice girl and Ayo even made sure that he became friends with her. They all hung out from time to time. David with his girlfriend along with Ayo and his girlfriend too. Everything was perfect and the boys friendship blossomed until some months later.

Ayo wasn't a psychic on anything but he didn't even need to be one to know something wasn't right with David's relationship. David always complained to him about how Ella hardly came around this days to see him and whenever she does, she doesn't even stay long.

"She's always talking about how she has some other place to be or some assignment to write." And though Ayo didn't think much about it at first, it started to become obvious Ella didn't really love his friend the way he thought. She only came around whenever they all were about to go have some fun.

Ayo thought David would see this redflags himself and try to do what's necessary to make things right, but David was so much in love that he didn't even notice any of that and when Ayo realized that love has blinded his best friend, he did what every good friend would do, he told David the blunt truth.

"She no longer loves you, she's only here for the enjoyment and then the moment that is over, she will leave." Ayo had said to David, hoping that he would see things his way but David had instead gotten offended and asked Ayo to leave. That was the beginning of the end of their friendship.

He refused to speak to Ayo and it didn't take long for Ayo to realize that David had told Ella the whole thing because she also stopped talking to him too. Ayo tried his best to apologize,maybe he made use of words he shouldn't have and he was sorry about that, he just was only trying to look out for a friend but David would hear none of that. His girlfriend had told him that he should have nothing to do with Ayo and he was going to do just that.

When it became obvious that nothing was going to change, Ayo decided to carry on with his life. Not all good things last forever, not even their friendship.

They both didn't say a word to each other for three months, until one sunny afternoon when Ayo got back home from school only to see David waiting for him. He tried to walk past him as they always did to each other but was surprised when David called his name.

"I'm sorry."

Every muscle in Ayo's body was pleading with him to yell out "I told you so" to David as he narrated how Ayo had been right all this time and how Ella finally left him for someone else but instead, Ayo smiled at his friend.

"Come inside joor, mumu lover boy" Ayo playfully insulted David as they both walked into his room.
