Lies

We all know telling lies isn't really a good thing but there are some situations we find ourselves in that telling a lie becomes the only option for us. I don't think there's really a good excuse to lie (or maybe there is, depending on the situation you find yourself in).

I remember the one time I told a lie that if I had been caught in my lie, would have placed me in very deep trouble. You see, I lived in a street where almost everyone there was involved in sport betting. So we the young ones too learnt at a very young age how to play sport betting.

So I found myself gambling at a young age and if there's one thing a young gambler doesn't have, it's money because I don't work. Now you see, I wasn't really playing it very often, but whenever I did, I would make sure to play until I no longer have any other money to play with because I was always losing.

So one day, I played a little bit too much and ran out of money as usual, but instead of just calling it a day and going back home, I decided to go help myself with some of my older brother's money. Bear in mind that I already used some of my mom's money to play (I had gone on an errand for her and haven't given her her change). Well I used all of that, including that of my brother and when I lost that too, I finally called it a day.

So I went home hoping that no one would notice but they did because why not. My mom was willing to forfeit her change because I had told her I used it for something else but my brother wasn't ready to admit that his money just disappeared (because I had denied having anything to do with it), so he called my dad and my dad called for a family meeting. My dad has always said that never will anything get missing in his home because we rarely have visitors so if its missing, it was one of us who took it.

I remember being so scared that day like it was judgement day because I knew what would happen to me if they found out I took it,especially now that a family meeting is being called. So I did the only thing I knew I could do, I made sure my script was perfect and I stuck with it. At the end of the day, they all concluded that maybe my brother had misplaced the money himself because it turned out he wasn't so sure where he had kept the money, so my dad decided to forget about it and that was how I got out with my life intact lol.

Two things I took from that experience is that gambling is bad and I never want to find myself in such situation anymore.

Shit! I never went this much, haven't tried gambling or anything extreme like that so far.
Yeap I lied, on various occasions to save my ass, and took away money from dad's pocket but in a very limited amount so that it doesn't create any chaos, hehe. In situations like these lies come out automatically. Have we stopped lying? nope, for fun or to get away from unexpected situations we do lie. To be honest, that's a disgrace for us.

From the last line, it's great that you learned from the mistakes, I think that's what we can extract from the bad moves we make in our life, we can't undo them but experience the best possible lesson.

Yeah, I really don't think we can stop lying completely, it's sad but it's the truth. There's always going to be a situation where we just have to lie, either to save ourselves or to save someone else.

Wow, you must have been under such a huge pressure that day... We all must have lied once or twice as a kid , but it's important we learn not to grow into such mindset that lies can save if from troubles
