Father Lied

One of the very few persons I trust so much is my father. If I was blinded folded, then taken to a cliff and was asked to jump by my father, assuring me that nothing bad would happen to me even though I know very well that I'm at the edge of a cliff, I still would jump. That's how much I trust this man.

Every weekend is a day for clean ups at home and last Saturday had been no different. The chores was shared among us and I had been given the bathroom to take care of. All I had to do was make sure the place was clean and spotless. I quickly got to work, the earlier I finish, the earlier I get to eat breakfast.

I had made sure not to put on any footwear because father had warned us countless times of the danger to wearing slippers or anything into a wet bathroom. The bathroom floor was tiled so what dad said made so much sense.

I carried on with my chores like the obedient son I am while fantasizing about how I would dive at my breakfast few minutes from now.

About twenty-two minutes or thereabout of intense scrubbing, it finally was time for me to rinse off the soap and that was when it happened. My life flashed before my eyes as the slippery floor sent me flying into the sky and crashing to the floor about five seconds later.

It took longer than that for me to understand what happened. I just looked around like someone who just survived a bomb blast. What made it even more painful was the fact that I had landed on my right arm, the same arm I broke while playing while I was still in high school. The whole pain almost knocked me out.

By the time the rest of the family got to the bathroom, I was almost on my feet though I knew there was no way I was going to lift anything with that arm, at least not for the next two hours. So everyone had sympathized with me, my brother had even volunteered to finish washing the bathroom while I go get something to eat.

Father watched me, it was obvious he had nothing else to say after he asked if I had my slippers on and I said no. I looked at him the same way Isaac must have looked at Abraham, feeling betrayed after the Lord provided the ram and asked Abraham to untie him.

"Will you be able to eat with that hand?" My dad had asked what I felt was the funniest question ever.

Even if I broke both of my hands, nothing was going to stop me from devouring that food, nothing.
