Best friends

If there was one thing Temi hated so much in life, it was having regrets. She hated it so much that she made sure that whatever decision she took, it was something she could look back at ten years later and still feel the same way she felt the day she took that decision.

Unfortunately, all Temi felt right now was nothing but regrets. The words “if I had known” kept repeating at the back of her mind and no matter how hard she tried to ignore, the words kept getting louder and louder.

Temi’s ex had been uncomfortable with how close she was with her me best friend. He had made his worries known to her and each time he brought the topic up, Temi always made sure to assure him that nothing was going on between her and Mike, her best friend. They just have been best of friends since childhood and Temi saw Mike as someone she could always confide in.

They both had argued about this issue until her ex couldn’t take it anymore and decided to end things with her. Temi had felt bad about his decision because she was being honest, she and Mike had nothing secret going on, they were just friends.

When Mike asked her why they broke up, Temi had hidden the truth from him. She knew Mike would have confronted her ex if she told him and that was the last thing she wanted, she didn’t want to look desperate. So Temi had lied to Mike and the both of them had carried on like nothing happened until few weeks back when Mike got a girlfriend.

He had introduced her to Temi and everything had seemed great or at least that was what Temi thought until she got a call from Mike two days later. His girlfriend wasn’t cool with him being friends with Temi and he had no choice but to end their friendship. Temi had hung up the phone without saying a word. She just allowed the tears in her eyes flow freely as the words became louder..

“If I had known”.
