One With Nature #2: A Walk Filled With Childhood Memories

Hello everyone! Today I decided to be a little bit closer to nature. I went to my old elementary schools backyard where me and my friends used to play when we were kids.

I started around late 2PM in the afternoon. The road where my house is at are mostly surrounded by bushes like these. It's a very common sight here as you will see.

The place that I wanted to take a walk isn't really far from my house if I were to guess it's distance from my house, it would probably be around 300 to 400 meters. Our place is filled with plants, trees and bushes so the air is quite fresh.

This is the place that we used to play when we were kids. We would play catch, hide & seek, slipper games and even climbing the trees here a long time ago. This place is filled with my childhood memories that is why I decided to take a walk here today.

Although it might look hot in the picture but in reality this is a very cool place thanks to the trees and plants.

As I look around the place, I found this fallen tree just lying there. I'm 100% sure this is a remnant of Super Typhoon Rai (Odette). I'm just sad to see that even after 6 months it hasn't been removed yet. I think they think it's not dangerous anymore that is why they just left it here.

I'm even surprised that the people living near the school hasn't made this into firewood yet. I know coz I used to gather mahogany fruits here that have dried up during summer days.

My grand mother and grand father which I used to live with when I was a kid love to use the dried fruits of the Mahogany Tree as a firewood. It was easy to light up so we used this to start a fire combined with other woods we would gather here.

After an hour of walking around the back of my old school but then decided to go up the hill for a bit, so I can take a good photo of the school but sadly these are the best photos I could get.

It is not much and the school really looks rundown now, just look at the rust from the roofs. I'm just happy the old rusty roofs didn't fly off during the Super Typhoon. I just hope the school management would take care of the rooms here. It might only be a public school but still... I'm pretty sure they have a budget for that seeing how high public school teachers salaries are now.

As I was roaming around I also found this Coral Vine Flower. It is a very common pesky plant here in the Philippines as these can grow almost anywhere and is very hard to kill. So once they grow in a particular area, expect it to always grow no matter how much you try to kill these pesky plants. But the fact that they have pink flowers I got to love them even for a little. Seriously these plants is a menace to people who loves gardening 😅

After an hour or more of my leisure walk it is finally time to go back home. I will be walking back here in the future (hopefully) but my goal for the next couple of months would be to a least try to explore other areas in our town and see if there are other locations that are good for talking a walk except for our local park and our local wharf.

I love the sea to be honest and I would rather walk there every single day but posting almost everyday of pictures from our wharf doesn't sound too appealing to you readers and will most likely get sick on seeing the same things over and over again. So I want to make it as a challenge to walk to other new areas as well, only for our town for now since I have a family to take care of. I can't really go that far, I can sometimes maybe go to other towns but that's just sometimes.

As I went back home I wanted to share this view. Another remnant of the Super Typhoon Rai. This is suppose to be a road towards my grand parents house but now it's been blocked my a couple of trees that have fallen down during the storm.
