Not in my neck of the woods lol. 99% are more likely to do you harm than good. I have had too many run ins with snakes over the years as our Durban house had plenty as we were across the road from a sugar cane field.
Snakes are not my favourite animal, I just stay out of their way, like you say they do have their role to play.
