Through the soreness...

I just finished a 5.921km running that lasted about 0hh:30mm:04ss !

Well, yesterday run took a little bit of convincing. I was still very sore from Saturday first run. My quads, hamstrings, and adductors were feeling extremely tight, and my calves weren't much better. Basically the entire legs were sore, actually more like painful. Like I said, no surprise, because as usual, I didn't do anything to prevent it. But for consistency, I wanted to get out and run, even more so because extreme heat is on Tuesday forecast and I knew I probably wouldn't run then.

So, once again, just before nightfall, I laced up my most comfortable running shoes (but also the heaviest) and started a run that I knew wouldn't be too long. I made sure to reach at least 5k though, because I just don't like suiting up for less. But not much more! By the time my muscles started to feel a bit looser and better, I was already getting tired. Final time around 30 minutes. Obviously quite slow, almost 1 minute per mile slower than what my pace used to be before my injury. But that's not the point. Right now, ramping up the mileage and making sure the ankle stays well, that's the only objective.

Taking about mileage, and for accountability, here's the updated table for June:

SportsJune Total (miles)June Total (km)
Running7.8912.70
Cycling21.3834.40

Plan for today is some stretching, for once! And if I manage to face the heat tonight, I might go for an easy bike ride. Or it might just be a real rest day, we'll see.
Till then, keep Exhausting!
