Kane is out of sorts, slow and rubbish. Bamford as a direct replacement in a similar style would have been ideal. Too late now. Looking like the usual quarter final exit for England as from the highlights and match reports, Scotland were just the better of two poor teams. Leeds would have wasted them both.

Sweden beat Slovakia in a game I watched but wished I hadn't and then I started watching the Czech Republic until Shick got the first goal from a penalty and decided I was giving up football and went to bed!

I said last time we played with Spain they would struggle in front of goal and this was born out by a 0-0 result. Lots of fancy passing but nothing up front and a slightly dubious looking defence. Their captain, Busquets is back in training and surely Enrique needs to mix it up a little but by doing what?

Poland's opening game against Slovakia ended in defeat. Their fabled stoicism of old seemed to have deserted them and they were poor, not helped by the sending off of midfielder. Having an uphill task now to qualify might motivate them to work more cohesively and I expect a much better performance, but against Spain? Mateusz Klich will be driving the team and if Spain give chances away as they did against the Swedes, Poland can capitalise.

The Small Print

In the first goalscorer competition, own goals do not count. In the correct score competition, it's the score after 90mins. Extra time and penalties do not count and the pot for each competition will roll over if there is no winner. If more than one person chooses the same first goal scorer or correct score, the prize is shared, and everyone gets a little upvote! It seems I also need to add, one entry per person. Don't forget the new rule that only people with a rep of 45 or above are eligible to enter unless they have been approved. The bonus will be added to any winnings ONLY if Leeds United win and/or Man U lose and all pay-outs will never exceed 50% of post pay-out. Other bonuses paid out at my discretion.
