UFC259: Israel Adesanya Records First Career Defeat

The last style bender Israel Adesanya in his attempt to make history by moving from the middleweight to light heavyweight class suffered his first career defeat in the hands of Jan Blachowicz.

Izzy who in his quest to become two-division
champion was handed a big upset has the match against Jan Blachowicz ran out to an unanimous decision (49-46, 49-45, 49-45) seeing him lose to light heavyweight champion.

The match which lasted about five rounds was a keenly contested one between both fighters. Israel Adesanya started on a high note with barrage of attacks in the first and second round.

Jan Blachowicz survived the early attacks and had to rally up his game plan with attacks of his in the forth and fifth round to see off Nigeria-born New Zealand-based fighter Israel Adesanya to his first MMA professional loss and retain his title.

Adesanya loss means he fails to join Amanda Nunes, Conor McGregor, Daniel Cormier and Henry Cejudo
as UFC two-belt champions title holders.
