We Are Alive! November 8th, 2022 Election Day

Today is the mid-term election. We don't vote for president, but we vote for State governor, Secretary of State and Attorney General.

We also voted on three possible changes to the Michigan constitution. All three proposals are horrifying. Sentiments where I live are "NO" on all three, but there is a massive advertising campaign in support of these abominable proposals. The results of these proposals will have a permanent effect on the future of my family, if we are able to continue living in Michigan or if we have to look at options to relocate. It's a heavy thought, but we must live somewhere that is tolerant of our family's lifestyle.

We brought the entire family to the polls and we were pleasantly surprised with their good behavior. Interestingly, we vote in the elementary school I attended K-5. After we voted, we visited the playground in the back. I sat there watching my six children playing and thought how amazing it is that I'm back here again with my family. I was their age when I played on this playground! (I didn't bring my phone, so no photos)

For those in the US, did you vote today?

(Edited)

State constitutional amendments - establishing foundational state-wide proclaimed "rights" that are not easily changed and over-rides laws.

proposal one: State Constitutional amendment which extends term limits to 12 years and requires campaign financing reporting (sus)

proposal two: State Constitutional amendment which enumerates "election rights" including mail-in ballots, drop-boxes and the forbidding of citizen audits (sus)

proposal three: State Constitutional amendment which invalidates all state laws which infringes on "reproductive rights" which is defined very loosely as prenatal care, childbirth, sterilization, abortion (infanticide), infertility and prohibits prosecution of individuals or doctors. A dentist can now legally perform an abortion in Michigan. It used to be illegal to kill a pre-born baby after a certain age, it's now codified in the Michigan constitution as a "right".
