We Are Alive! March 25th, 2022 Piano Lessons

School Comes In All Forms

As a part of our home education, our children are beginning their piano lessons. It all begins very simply, with learning how to sit on the chair properly and curving fingers, etc.

My three oldest are beginning and the attitude and energy of the oldes two is great. Our third needs some practice practicing!

I know how it feels like to think you know something, and to try to school the schoolmaster (so to speak). Our children have been playing around on the piano their entire lives and have figured out how to play all sorts of songs from ear.

It's a difficult thing to admit that they DON'T know how to properly play piano and to start again from the beginning.

That's the next lesson - learning how to learn. It takes a little bit of "humbling" to start again from the beginning, but that's where everyone must begin. At the beginning.

I remember when I started piano lessons. I was 5. I never thought it was much fun but know I wish I could still play. Thanks for sharing.

Wow starting at 5, that's great! You might be surprised what memories you have from your youthful piano lessons. The keys haven't changed! :-)

Music is the spice of life, it's a very special language that communicates emotions! Both myself and my wife have some musical talent and it's showing through our children. Thank you for your comment and support!

Music is best taught young, they will carry that throughout their lives.

I honestly can't wait until ours is a bit older and music and such will be part of her learning :)
currently, she is still struggling with normal learning honestly, the pandemic has been hard on her as the first year of kindergarten she practically missed 3/4 thanks to constant ear/nose problems. And we all know what happened after. Homeschool is something I defo tried, but it only works parttime with her and me :) And preferably if it's the creative part only lol. The rest she learns at kindergarten fine, but from me, she's stubborn. I gave up on the idea of wanting to do that fully. But we do our lessons from time to time and soon Spanish lessons will be included!

Great Idea to start with the piano. That was the first instrument I learned. Later I went mostly to guitar but the piano is a great way to learn the basics. By the way I came from List Nerds

I am glad for them. It will teach them valuable skills even outside of music. It will expand the mind and foster discipline. My mom was a piano teacher all her life, so obviously I was taught the same. I sure as heck was not going to be destined as a car mechanic. LOL

I don't even know how to play the piano so I wouldn't know. However, admitting you don't know something is hard in the beginning but it will help out more later in life.
