We Are Alive! February 6th, 2022 Doing All Our Work

It's Cold, but Sunny

Today is our family's "pancake and shower day" and we just finished with pancakes. I have a few indoor projects to start, since today is the first work day of six, according to God's procaimation:

Six days you shall labor and do all your work. Exodus 20:9

All Our Work

It seems impossible to do all our work in six days, but we try to get a good start on the first day. As followers of Messiah (we are not offended being called "Christian"), we "search the scriptures because in them, we believe we have eternal life" (John 5:39). We also recognize that they (the scriptures) testify of Yeshua! Therefore, as we search the scriptures, seeing Yeshua's testimony, we follow HIM and walk as He walked.

He that saith that he abideth in [Yeshua], ought himself also so to walk, even as He walked. 1 John 2:6

Doing Good on the Sabbath

Yesterday, we rested and read our weekly portion of the Torah. We are imitating the practices of our Savior, although admittedly we still have a long way to go and we are always learning and attempting to improve.

A man came up to Jesus and inquired, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to obtain eternal life?... "If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” Matthew 19:16-17

Yeshua did not profane the Sabbath and indeed, He performed all His work in six days and rested on the Sabbath. He also did GOOD on the Sabbath, He healed the sick, He and His disciples gleaned corn from the edge of a field, He spoke the Words of the Most High in the Synagogue, He cast out demons, He performed signs and miracles that testify that He is the Messiah, the Holy One of Israel.

Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days? Mark 3:4

So too, the followers of Messiah rest and do good on the Sabbath day.

They [the women following Yeshua] returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment. Luke 23:56

It's Cold, but Sunny

Nowadays the weather is weird. Today we had -1 °C in the morning, but the maximum temperature was 12 °C in the afternoon. As if we would have jumped from one season to another in one day.

Have a nice day and have a nice weekend.
All the best. Greetings and much love from Hungary.

I have multiple layers of clothes. Actually I am prepared for very cold temperatures, for example below -20 °C. Temperatures like that are not rare in my country (Hungary). We had a record cold of -35.50 °C in the previous year on 2021.02.13.

Sabbath or "Shabbat" in Hebrew literally means "to cease" or "desist". When Israel were slaves in Egypt, they were forced to work seven days without ceasing. After the Exodus from Egypt, God set forth a command that His people shall only labor for six days and then "cease" for the seventh day. They were to "keep it holy" by resting from all their labor. It's a sign to Israel that they have been redeemed (bought) from Egypt and are now servants of a new Master, the God who created the world in six days and rested on the seventh day. Bless His Holy Name!

Likewise, Yeshua redeemed us (of the nations) out of the practices of "Egypt" (the world) and as a sign that we are servants of a new master (Jesus is Lord), we live by the practices of Yeshua. He labored six days and ceased on the Sabbath, though He never ceased doing good. It is a sign that we (of the nations) have become a part of the fullness of Spiritual Israel, becoming Sons of God, having the right to call the Creator of the Universe "Our Father in Heaven". Bless His Holy Name!
