Sweet Potato Harvest!
Easiest Crop So Far!
Last spring we planted two rows of sweet potato tubers in a 4 x 4 foot plot of the garden. Since then, the sweet potato vines have expanded all over the place: but also provided a very sweet surprise!
The children had a great time cutting back the vines and digging up the food!
Every time we'd find some larger potatoes, all the children rejoiced together! It was great fun.
Last year our sweet potatoes never grew larger than our fingers, this year we have actual meals.
It felt like a treasure hunt, finding the yummy food in the ground.
We managed to collect a solid half-bushel of sweet potatoes. Excellent haul! Bless the Most High!

My sweet potatoes got annihilated by deer this year, although it was due to my own negligence. I forgot to lock the gate one night, haha ;) Lesson learned...
Those deer can really do some damage quickly!
