"Freeports"

I read English newspapers every day, and in one of them I found that Mrs. Liz Truss, as one of her aims as Prime Minister is to create "Freeports", which would basically be something like low tax havens for corporations, who would be like overlords in these places.

Now I am from Honduras, our previous, very conservative governments tried to implement something like this, here they were called ZEDES, Special Zones for Development. The idea is a place were corporations can set up and expect cheap labor, no government intervention, have their own security services, even have their own laws. The law the previous government created to set up these zones was one of the first things overturned by the new government.

Now, one of the main pillars of BREXIT was to retake sovereignty, I see no way were ceding territory were you basically give all rights to national or foreign corporations is helping in taking back sovereignty. In fact, that is the main reason it was overturned here, loss of sovereignty. All you get is minimum wage jobs, and a big loss of land.

Of course, I imagine that in the UK, at first at least, it is presented as a win-win, it isn't, it is a win-win, but just for corporations. Here the government is facing a lot of lawsuits from corporations who feel their rights have beem trampled. To me it is better to face a lawsuit than to lose parts of the country.
