The weekend's big football match was played on Sunday night, when Liverpool took on the reigning Premier League champions, Manchester City in a real English top match. The winner of the match was able to take over a temporary first place in the league, and as always, in the clashes between the two teams, it was the battle to be the biggest team in England.

The away team from Manchester dominated the first half, where especially the young star shooter, Phil Foden was in the playing mood. Kevin De Bruyne was back in the starting lineup for the first time this season in the Premier League. The two should probably be looked at more.

Despite Manchester City putting pressure on the Liverpool defense, the first half ended goalless.

In the second half, Liverpool put the best from land and were like transformed. After an hour of play, Mohamed Salah took a nice run and got the game Sadio Mane free in front of goal. The Senegalese did not disappoint and sent Liverpool deservedly in front.

Liverpool continued their pressure, but in the 69th minute Foden suddenly stood unmarked in the box after a nice pass from Gabriel Jesus. The young Englishman resolutely sent the ball into the box and equalized.

Just seven minutes later, Salah was on the move again. After a great solo run through Manchester City's chains, he deployed Ederson in goal and sent the home team in front.

Liverpool's new lead, however, lasted only five minutes. Phil Foden was in the running on the left and found a free De Bruyne on the edge of the box. The Belgian's shot was deflected by Joel Matip, so Allison was without a chance in the goal.

The English showdown between two of the biggest clubs thus ends 2-2 in a match where the second half was so entertaining that one had forgotten the first 45 minutes. The top in Premier is close and both teams are in the top three.
