Indoor + Grow Diary Day 228- Off-Grid Solar Powered LED Grow - Compost Tea Time
Hey folks, Graham here again with another update on the grow.
Last night i started a batch of compost tea. I cant wait to see the difference this makes. I tried it for the first time last year and it worked really well.
I am only using a very basic simple recipe.
5 Gallons water (should be unchlorinated natural water)
2 Tablespoons of Organic, unsulfured molasses (this was all i had. I seen a recipe where they add a whole cup)
4 Cups of Good Quality Compost
There are so many other ingredients that can be added including fish hydrolysate, worm castings and liquid kelp.
I used a bubblebag tied off so it is suspended in the water.
Sadly i do not have a bubbler stone/aqaurium pump but it worked pretty well last year without one so we should be good. I will be stirring it constantly for 3 days. I will then dilute it about 5 cups to 20 litres. About 1:4 then.
It may take a few feeds before you see a difference.

Good call, compost tea is a gentle but effective source of nutrients. It's safe on the plants and on the smoker later on. You can't burn with compost! And it's got a little of everything a plant needs, kind of like a multivitamin.

It was really decent quality compost so can't go wrong really.
I would say 2TBLS to 5TBS at the most with molasses. Good looking on that ingredient list, i have some compost that is almost ready.
Yeah most of the recipes I looked at were using 2. I was surprised when I read a whole cup..seems a bit excessive.
