Another Real Fall Day!.........My Actifit Report Card: October 23 2022

Being Sunday, we headed out to church ⛪️ this morning. Brrrrrr🥶 it seemed cold! The thermometer showed 34 degrees F and although not super cold, 🥶 when you think last Sunday, we were pushing 80 degrees-well that’s cold at 34!
The sermon was good; about grace and the Prodigal Son. Once church ⛪️ was over, we stepped outside only to smell smoke 💨 again. I was hoping we were done with that, but despite the rain we got, apparently the winds had shifted again coming out of the northeast, so it made sense why we were smelling it again. 😔 Once home, you could not smell it and as the day wore on, we never did. 😁
We met Jan at 4 for a hike up to the off grid cabin. It’s been forever since we’ve hiked together! She sat at the sawmill area while me and @silvertop headed on up ‘the hill’. Almost at the top, I found these guys poking their heads out.
A very nice specimen. I do know these are edible, but have a short ‘fresh’ cycle. If left too long, the become ‘inky’ -almost like they sweat an ink-like substance. I don’t much care to eat shrooms, so I’m happy just photographing them. There haven’t been too many this year in a land usually abundant with them. Mainly I suppose because of the long, hot and dry summer.
Tomorrow finds me headed to work on my second of unusual workweeks for me, in a row. I’m already looking 👀 forward to the weekend, lol!🤣

The son that stayed was a bit jealous of the returning brother; I think we all might have reacted that way in youth, but knowing what I know now, it is cause for celebration of the returning son.
I suppose the one that stayed might could have taken his share as well, but he didn't choose to do that. Jesus will always celebrate one who has gone astray and comes back. Angels rejoice for each soul returned!

How quick the weather changed there! Happy for you though. It seems the forest fires has extinguished.
We have indeed had rain; it's raining as I type this! I suspect it has put quite the damper on the fires, but I suspect it will takes several weeks of steady rain to extinguish them altogether. The good news is for the moment, no smoke for us. It was pretty unbearable!

Ohh. The forest fires must be really bad that it needs weeks of rain. Too bad for people living in the valley though if rain persists for weeks. A week of rain in our place (or even an entire day) will bring floods.
It could. I am hoping for balance. What really did us in last year was a couple of what they called, 'atmospheric storms' that dumped 8" within 3 days. It was just too much for the ground and the rivers to handle and we flooded.
Awww. That's pretty bad. For sure the government is shocked too. Hopefully, there will be solutions.
