A Little Rain, Please!.......My Actifit Report Card: October 16 2022

(Edited)

Hey everybody and thanks ๐Ÿ™ for stopping by! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜”๐Ÿ”ฅ

Our day began with heading to church โ›ช๏ธ to lead worship for the morning. I was a little apprehensive as the smoke from the many wildfires ๐Ÿ”ฅwas blowing in with an easterly wind. It was awful. Our air quality was at 165, and I thought I could see the smoke actually moving!๐Ÿ˜ณ The smoke has been affecting my singing voice to the point that I was working much harder than ever to try to keep my voice clear. Excessive phlegm! A nasty business for sure! It was so bad during practice that I actually let the congregation know if I dropped out, just keep going. God is good and He saw fit to give me what I needed. Worship turned out well and the people were awesome as they sang loudly! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐ŸŽถโ›ช๏ธ

This next picture is from our son as he stands out in the elk fields near his home. The white stuff arenโ€™t clouds โ˜๏ธ but smoke ๐Ÿ’จ from the Bolt Creek Fire ๐Ÿ”ฅ that is still raging. The winds just whipped it up that much more.

I asked him if he was under any kind of potential evacuation notice. He said no, as it would have to jump a couple of peaks before it became a problem.

One of the guys at church โ›ช๏ธ is a wildfire fighter; theyโ€™ve been called to active duty for the next 5 weeks. They usually work 3 and get 3 days off but not right now. We so desperately need some rain ๐ŸŒง๏ธ to help with the containment of the many fires raging in our state and on up into Canada!

Hereโ€™s our sonโ€™s dog Phoenix enjoying a ride on the ferry. I know what sheโ€™s thinkingโ€ฆโ€ฆ..โ€™where are the fish?โ€™ She loves to go fishing ๐ŸŽฃ

With the lack of rain, everything is so dry! With the wind that came this morning, it shook trees whose roots are loose due to lack of moisture. Yes, you guessed it-one came down and took out the power for the road. Usually it rains and with the wind that accompanies those storms, we have the same results. I guess if the trees are gonna fall, then they will! ๐Ÿ˜

Our neighbor Joan collects gnomes. When we were out shopping yesterday, I saw these and could not resist getting a pair for her!

Thatโ€™s gonna be it for now. Tomorrow brings a workday on my usual off day. Itโ€™s all 5 days this week instead of my usual 3. Extra Christmas ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ„money, I suppose!

Take care and enjoy your week ahead! Please continue to ๐Ÿ™for ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

๐Ÿ‘ฃ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ๐Ÿคฉโ˜•๏ธ๐ŸŽถโ›ช๏ธ๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿฅฑ๐Ÿ˜ด

On our long hikes, we do get an earlier start. On the shorter ones, it's often late afternoon. It just depends on what is going on any given day. Take care my friend!๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿค—

So sorry to hear about the forest fires. So it extends from Canada to Washington State. I hope you'll feel better. The smoke will contribute to your headaches. If that were me, I'll be having stress or tension headaches by now.

I don't really know what to call mine except they are a pain-pun intended!

Pray for the rain they are forecasting to materialize on Friday. We so need it!

Have you had the rain? We used to have it every night, except tonight though.

The rain started Friday past. It rained off and on for the weekend and a lot last night. It's raining as I type this, fairly hard. We so need it; I suspect it will take some time to re-hydrate this land! Take care!

So does it mean a rainy winter instead of snow?

Snow will be dependent on the temperatures. It's really too early for it here, but not up in the higher elevations. We have seen snow as early as November 4th before, which might be nice. We will have to wait and see.

Oh. So it's better to have snow than rainfall. We do get some rainfall lately. Actually, torrential rains.

Torrential rain is not good! Snow can be very pretty and entertaining, but if you aren't prepared or know how to drive on it, then it can be dangerous as well.

I have no idea how it will be like with snow. Others say the road can be slippery.

It depends on where you live. In Colorado, the snow is dryer; hence the familiar term of 'white powder'. Here, it's a wet snow. It can be very treacherous if you don't know how to drive on it, and even sometimes, if you do! I prefer the dry snow, and although I've seen it here once or twice, it's fairly rare where we are. It turns your world into a magical winter wonderland! I hope someday you get to experience it! Take care!

Cool. I never thought snow can be different in places. I just learned Colorado is snowing too.

It was doing that there yesterday. We used to live in Gunnison, Colorado, and it's know for being one of the coldest spots in the US. We have seen 40 below zero F before! Our living room elevation was at 8000 feet. It was lovely and I do miss it, but 9 months of winter is hard to do after a while.

8000 feet is too high. Oh maybe when I got to visit US someday. That's if that will happen.

I remember when we first moved there, just climbing a staircase was exhausting. You lose 3% oxygen per 1000 feet you go up. However, once you acclimated, it was a piece of cake. When we first moved to Washington state, I remember realizing I wasn't inhaling air much. There were periods of rest between breathing, and I realized it was because I was used to only 76% oxygen and now I was flooded with 100%! Crazy!

Yeah. It might have something to do with the altitude. Anyway, I might lose a lot of oxygen from 1000 steps.
