Catwoman from Arkham Knight

Catwoman was rarely a favorite character in my book. She's just a common thief, has no exceptional abilities (except for stealing shiny things), and is overall just mundane. However, DC has been telling some interesting stories about this former villain, and she's now moderately interesting.

I found this Catwoman yesterday at Facebook Marketplace, and it was love at first sight. Add to that the fact that even if she was still sealed and new, she had a good (i.e. low) price. She's also quite rare in the market, so I told myself not to pass her up, as I have regretted a lot of missed opportunities in the past.

Every time I get interested in a collectible figure, I usually go to Youtube first to see reviews from famous action figure vloggers who discuss and assess the figure's aspects meticulously. These features include paint apps, sculpts, accessories, height and scale, and most importantly, articulation. I usually never get a figure, however beautiful the sculpt may be, if there are no ankle joints and if the thigh joint cannot move laterally (as in a split).

This particular Catwoman has all of the aspects I want in figures, and more. The head has decent movements, and all the requisite shoulder, elbow, wrist, abdomen, thigh, knee, and ankle joints are present. Most of all, the paint and sculpt are gorgeous. I have lately passed on collecting characters that have no super powers, because meh, they can't do much. The least they could do is fly, but nooo, all they usually have in their repertoire are kicks and punches. Yeah, like Batman. Nonetheless, I treat my collection equally, because in the real world, they are all equally just painted plastic.

This character, however, is an exception, because she is, simply speaking, beautiful. The mostly-all black suit has matte and glossy parts, and there are grayish highlights here and there. And everything else is just as pretty. DC Collectibles obviously didn't scrimp on the paint applications, suit and head sculpting, and overall quality. Furthermore, the two whips add the final touch that completes this ensemble of gorgeous plastic artwork. And so, I guess Catwoman's lack of metahuman capabilities is more than compensated by her pretty feline features.

Batman makes a guest appearance here.

Because he's Batman.

And why not? After all, Catwoman's his chick. Though I don't collect a lot of Batman figures (even if he's a favorite character), the one here is a rare exception.
