Some of you may know this, others may be shocked to find out. It is indeed true, DTube & Appics both are beneficiaries to your posts. That is if you use their platform of course.

Is this okay?

Depends who you ask. If you watch my video you will hear my opinion, I state many facts as well. There is a lot more going on than them just taking 10% and giving nothing in return. They aren't the only ones charging to use their platforms either.

However, I do not believe enough people actually know that this is happening. 10% is a lot of money, especially over a long period of time.

I was shocked when I saw that.
Actually I am okay with all platforms taking a percentage.
What I think should be done as well they should upvote our posts as well to make it somewhat even.
Hum I am thinking 🤔
Keep on postin

I agree that in most cases it makes sense for them to take a percentage of our profits. Especially DTube hosting all of those videos, thats not easy. However many users have no idea it is even happening. I haven't heard this brought up into the conversation during all of this #scottube talk. Just hype, which is great.. but the truth needs to be set free also.

Upvoting our posts more often would be good enough for me. That doesn't cost them a thing, seems fair to me.

Previously it was 20% I believe.

I can vaguely remember it being more than 10%. That was well over a year ago I believe. Hard to remember with all that goes on here on Steem.
Either way, I feel like this topic needs to be refreshed frequently. It’s pretty important for people to be aware of.

Half a year ago the beneficiaries reward was 15% and above.

Well it’s great to see it has been halved. That’s a huge difference.
I do believe taking a percentage is okay. Depends on the situation of course. With DTube I approve. They are the main video hosts on Steem. With Appics I also approve. They have the most mainstream app in my opinion, it could easily catch fire.
Plus both are handing out their own tokens on top of Steem.

Dtube needs to pay the hosting fees etc. As for all the same. They also may have to pay to the investors, as in the case of Appics they don't.

For sure DTube does way more with that income they are receiving.
Appics, they haven’t shown much yet... but I just can’t get over how clean their app and branding is. Is that enough, I don’t know. I’m ready to start earning APX, I know that.

Being invested in appics I don't know how I'll benefit for Apx tokens. Yet I wonder how the ico funds were used by them.

That’s a good question about the ICO funds. Hard to say, maybe an explanation will come out eventually.

Hope so. I haven't seen any great developments. And they mentioned they contacted big exchanges hopefully it's not Steemengines or bts atm.

Very sly with their communication. I’m still unsure on the outcome.

It’s a good way to fund development and the percent taken is much better than traditional services like YouTube take

You make two great points here. YouTube for sure takes a much larger quantity from its creators.
I know video especially is exspensive to host. This is why Steemit hasn’t touched video yet I’m sure.

Yea, it’s a pretty expensive endeavour. Especially considering most videos get single digit views

Its a lot for a little for now.
I look forward to the day we have quicker uploads, more users, and greater abundance.

I can’t even use dtube. It’s voluntarily blocked in most of Australia due to their stance on the shooting in New Zealand.

Wow, I had no idea about NZ. Can’t you just get around that with a VPN?

I could but it slows things down and adds a cost to me. Plus I’m not sure how I fall on the refusal to take down the video. It’s censorship but some things should probably be censored

You’ve got to follow your own heart on the situation.

I knew about it. I am fine with DTube because they provide an awesome platform and they also upvote creators. YouTube takes half of the ad revenue. FIFTY percent!

We definitely have it better on Steem. I cannot deny that. I’m mostly just aiming to make everyone aware with this video. Then I even give a great reason why it still very worth it to use DTube.

10% for DTube is okay in my opinion. they have lots of interface and running costs.

APPICS however, I don't think it's okay. it's just an app interface in the end, so 5% or less would be more than enough

Agreed.

DTube earns it. APPICS, 5% sounds a lot better.

From the photos/videos I’ve seen, the APPICS team seem to live a lavish lifestyle. Doesn’t mean it’s all coming from that whopping 10%. Then again maybe a large portion is. Who knows really.

"You're losing 10%." I see it differently. You're getting 100% of what's yours. Maybe the 50/50 will encourage those behind the scenes of these dapps to vote more to gain more in curation rewards rather than needing to take a 10% cut. That's how I'd probably do it.

Sidenote: The music at the end of your video was blaring compared to your voice during the video. I had to hit the volume real fast in order to save my hearing.

More curation in the Steem nation. yes please.

Thanks for the heads up on the music. My apologies for the pain your ears endured. I failed to reduce the volume low enough.
I just started making videos about 2-3 weeks ago, so I’m still learning as I go.

I agree with the more curation thing. Seems only logical to work up to thousands of worthwhile votes on our best work, while taking a smaller percentage, but earning more because of more incoming worthwhile votes. In the end it's just common sense business stuff. I hope it all works out.

And yeah dude, keep learning. Never stop.

I’ve noticed a wider variety of accounts interacting with my posts, actual comments that are meaningful. So the curation is already getting better, every day it increases I believe. So many incentives springing up.

It helps when you're not buying votes and the posts reach higher slots organically. I wouldn't have seen this on Steemit, because of all the nonsense cluttering up the feeds. I saw this post closer to top on the Palnet hot list, and since I can trust (so far) the content isn't paid programming, I was willing to click. Less robots means more actual people.

I also enjoyed the part where once I voted, I'll get SP, PAL and LEO. More bang for the buck, and of course my vote was that much more powerful to you as well. This all might get a bit hectic soon though. Confusing as well. Especially for the noobs.

I’m so past the bid bots and such. That stuff was runinjng the experience. Bring recognized organically for my efforts feels so good.

This token explosion may not be easy for everyone .. but the good thing is explosions happen no matter what. There is no stopping the abundance.

It's good to see you're settling in and finding your groove now. I've enjoyed my organic experience here, an experience I've maintained for nearly three years. Though the money I'm earning now isn't as good as it once was, I know better than to hold a grudge towards those contributing to some of the reasons why. It was more profitable for them to NOT support our work organically. People will follow the money, even if it hurts those around them. Hopefully this hardfork changes that.

Three years is quite sometime. Many ups and downs in that period.
You’re wise to keep a level head throughout all of this.
Let’s eye these new changes and take notice of of the ecosystem is altered.

I don’t think you’ve asked. Possibly interested, it depends on what it entails. My time is a difficult thing to give up sometimes.

You better look out! 👀I’m driving a Steem freight train, nothing can stop my momentum. Passion to create & skill to execute.. both are flowing through my veins haha 🤪

Thank you for the editing compliment. That means a lot. Your videos are clean, so I know you understand proper production.

Im picking up a 3rd camera this weekend hopefully, so I’m gonna have another angle to work with.
