Why I just Quit Downvoting for good! 😱😱😱

My name is @coininstant, I’m a downvoteaholic!

Screenshot 2021-07-01 at 10.35.17 PM copy.png

Downvoting attracted negative energy, effecting my ability to reach my full potential!

The time it took to downvote, and interact with a multitude of buzzed off hiveans, could have been spent more efficiently toward my goal of becoming rich, not poor. After analyzing this horrible trend, I came to a realization that in order to become really rich, I will have to do things in a certain new way, which doesn't involve pressing the downvote button anymore. I know this is going to disappoint a bunch of you out there that really enjoy flag wars, but it's time for @coininstant to buckle down and grow up and Just Say No to Flags!

I quit Downvoting to become Rich instead!

Tonight I stumbled upon a YouTube video, The Science of Getting Rich, and a light bulb literally went off in my head! Everything about becoming truly rich was buzzing along in my brain until I reached chapter 5 in the video. In this chapter the author of this Scientific new way of looking at things stated that intelligent things will create things for you, but not take things from other people and give them to you. Resources are unlimited, and we are here to create, not compete, there is no reason for competition, thus one should not take any resources away from anyone else to become rich. In my eyes I had an eureka moment, what that is the problem, all my flags are taking reward resources form other people, when there is surely plenty of HIVE for everyone. So in essence there are really no need for downvotes from me or anyone else on this platform any more. I queued up the exact segment of the video below where the author points this out.

Time to buckle down and get this account to 1,000,000!

Since I began downvoting on HIVE this year, I actually noticed my profits topping out and starting to dwindle a little bit. I wasted many valuable hours I could have spent researching stocks and making money for paying money to waste time to take money away from people? Oooof! I finally think it's time for a change.

In fact, every big dip on this chart corresponded with a flag war erupting on either Steemit or HIVE!!

Screenshot 2021-07-01 at 9.51.50 PM.png It's no coincidence these last two dips formed each time I started flagging on HIVE this year too!!!

I can’t trade at my maximum potential with all this bad HIVE energy flying at me from every angle.

So... I just finally quit downvoting for good!!! Besides being "Not Nice", downvoting can be a very time consuming habit indeed. Once I realized this it became a "no brainer" to quit these petty flagging shenanigans. Now I have all the time in the world at my disposal to concentrate on pressing the important buttons in life, the ones that make me lots of money. Stock trading buttons make me way more than pressing these silly flag buttons all day long. 🤮 So that’s all folks, I’m done flagging on HIVE for good, this time for real because it's time for me to break out instead!!!

If you're still not convinced about the negative effects of downvoting on HIVE, just remember that a flag isn't just a flag, but it's also downvoting yourself, your life, your riches, your time, and your power. So be careful, don't downvote and simply sell yourself short like I've been doing! You know what they say, it takes one to know one, and I've done enough downvotes to be the downvoting authority here, so take my word for it, downvoting isn't worth it at all.

You just made the right decision. . Great one taking the bigger man stance. Instead of focusing on negative entities it's best you work towards your growth here and ignore whatever is been thrown at you

Good to see you turn things around and hope you keep that positive mindset.
I may have to disagree with the downvotes not being used on posts plagiarized and spam as negative reinforcement on those types of posts deters others that follow but that's another story. Will check out the vid later.

I read this as you can’t win the flag war. And it’s true. You couldn’t.

Here’s the thing tho-everything else you’ve ever said is a lie.

Yeah, I was in denial too, very bad denial. I guess I just wanted attention, and that's what I got, but it was the wrong kind of attention. My outbursts were paramount to throwing a digital temper tantrum, nearly becoming possessed by continually feeding of the negative feedback loop I created. Thanks for pointing that out, I was in the wrong!!

on a personal note, thank you!

I understand why you were flagging me; if you recall we did this dance 2 years ago;>

And, like then, I know that you have the assets to make Hive a better place AND get paid for it.

I'll recommend @steembasicincome, as I did last time, and for the same selfish reason I did last time.

There are a multitude of other programs like @minnowbooster that provide a return for helping newer Hivers; other than SBI, I haven't had the HP to invest in them, so I can't tell which is best.

There also index funds on Hive-Engine that you could invest in; definitely worth a look.

Finally, you have shown great fortitude in backing off from your approach. I carry no weight with the flagging curation trail I follow, so I can't tell you those flags will end. For my own part, I will remove any flags on your account you bring to my attention (and that I don't find flaggable, which are spamming, plagiarism, and illegal content)

Welcome back to Hive, and thrive!

I never forgot, I have a memory like an elephant. Wow blast from the past, I remember taking your advice back then and did get into the delegation. Curation on posts is so good right now I'm going to stick to doing that manually for a while. Thanks for understanding, again!! haha

ive been known to lose my temper, and screw myself over in doing so...more rthan oncve...before

im really have conflctg views on the use of the flag ads a tool

  • HP should be used as the holder sees fit
  • flags should only be used for spam, plagairism, and illegal content
  • thot i had a 4th, but guess i forgot it

heres to your successon this new road!

good nite i got to crash

Unvoting is removing downvotes. I never made any downvotes. I was removing the downvotes from your comments, lol thanks!

Although I like the "no negative energy" vibe and message in your post, what I find most encouraging about this post is your realization that life is not a zero-sum game, that creating wealth arises from creating something of value for others. This realization will no doubt help you become more wealthy.

I teach my students that free exchange is essential to societal well-being. Every time two individuals enter into a financial transaction (i.e. where each freely exchanges something of value for something he/she values even more), then they are BOTH better off after the exchange takes place (as long as there was no fraud or coercion involved). Each was better off after the transaction than they were before -- we know this because either one could've walked away from the transaction if it would have made them worse off.

So, every time two individuals transact, society as a whole is better off. This is why societies that have more economic freedom also have more prosperity. When governments make it hard to start a new business or raise taxes on businesses or over-regulate business activity, they end up bringing all of society down in the process.

BTW, it bears noting that very few, if any, government programs actually create something of value for others. The vast majority of them are operating under the zero-sum mentality that they must take from one member of society and give it to another, rather than encourage and promote every individual's right and freedom to create, and the right and freedom to profit from what they create.

Cheers! You have discovered a path that will lead you to many future successes!

Hey @coininstant...

I'm just a wee bit curious as to why you down voted this post from @BeachReady... Do you realize how much work goes into the actual production of these posts? Anyways! I'm just wondering is all. No hard feelings! 😉

Hahaha! Well! I’ve been following you for some time now and was a little surprised to get a downvote...

About the topic of this post... I very rarely downvote... but like my usual 100% heck yeah UPvotes I reserve my downvotes for times and places they are absolutely needed! It’s rare really because I would rather spread Good Wil (for obvious reasons! Hahaha!) and I have a goal to make Hive a friendlier more welcoming destination to invite my friends, family, and famous...

Soooo yeah! Mostly upvoting stuff 100% or no UPvote at all... annnnd! Downvotes also have their time and place but only if they are reserved for situations that make Hive better and more friendly.

This whole reward rebalancing thing really rubbed me the wrong way...

But yeah! I’ve written more about that in a recent post I wrote about a couple weeks ago if your interested in reading UP on it! 👇

It's helpful to explain the reason for a down-vote in the comments, it goes a long way towards people not taking it personally.

Yeah I used to do that a lot, but would usually lead to more arguments, and an easy way for them to click back and find me. If they ask I would usually team them the reasons. I'm over downvoting though, it's not worth the trouble it causes.
For example I downvoted your silver post because WSB cost me money after I listened to them, bought some silver, and it went down. So that is why I did that one, silver underperforms and I didn't like it that much. I'll undo that vote now, it was a petty, personal downvote. I just felt like WSB was telling people to buy SILVEr making fake pumps or something. No big deal.

Excellent. I have cast exactly one downvote, and I only did that because I got hit in crossfire on the very best thing I had ever posted, a poem that was a decade in the making. I know I can't expect poetry to make me money but it was traumatic to lose a couple bucks because one whale was mad at another.

In essence, to downvote is to do harm. From where I exist, downvoting does more collateral damage than good.

I've been on the receiving end of your downvotes a couple of times, but have just copped it on the chin, and moved on. Glad that you have given up the habit, I think positivity trumps negativity in the end.

I removed the downvotes on the posts that are still pending payout. I'm glad you decided to not to let it phase you, I think that is the best way to deal with them. I agree, it's much better being on HIVE in a positive way.
