Rad writeup and also a great illustration of how this sort of change happens gradually and deliberately over long periods of time. Once the government succeeded in controlling the majority of actual wealth (here, gold & silver), it could then freely leverage the public's absolute faith in paper "money" to simply print more of that, instead of having to give up any of its gold. Brilliant, and sinister.

Exactly, although I think the bankers already surrendered their gold to the "global" empire, but that doesn't stop them from printing all the funny money they want.
