So normally I would be quite excited about these new rewards cards. New splinters that one can perform new strategies with...

However, I have mixed feelings. Most of it are positive but have a slight concern.

You can find out more info about the new reward cards on this post:

Reward Cards

So in summary there will be 21 new reward cards that will be released on the 13th of September.

  • 6 Common - 8 mil print limit
  • 8 Rare - 2mil print limit
  • 4 Epic = 800k print limit
  • 3 Legendary cards - 200k print limit

The print limit is much higher than previous rewards edition cards which is expected given the insane growth that Splinterlands has experienced in recent periods. All of these seem fine and okay and makes sense. If the current player base increases then the print limit of these seems reasonable.

What I have mixed feelings about are the new abilities introduced.

New abilities are generally great as users can come up with new strategies of playing. However, the concern for me is that these new abilities may make some previous edition cards to be less useful.

If it comes to the point where new rewards and CL cards are just too powerful then demand will start to decrease for old cards. The thing is that these new abilities will only be present on new reward cards and perhaps the CL cards. Hence, if they are given too much power then old card value may start taking a hit. Hence, I hope that there will be some balancing.

Amplify

Lol, this ability will just make Mylor more popular or even Owster.

Forcefield

haha, this is like a immunity against cards with high power. Basically a counter against quite a lot of legendary cards which have high attack power. It will be interesting to see how this is used.

Looks like Oshannus will be a very powerful card. It can prob even act as a tank in high mana battles as it will generally face a card that has a power great than 5. In addition, it is a great counter against magic.

Deathblow

Deathblow seems to be a great counter to cards that have the Last Stand Ability. Hence, it will be useful against users who play Llama. The Llama x Kron combo may now be countered a bit better with it.

No idea which cards will have these abilities. However, if there are summoners that have more than one of these abilities then I think they may be too over powered.

Plan

I will be observing the market when these new reward cards come through, and I will be planning to max a couple of these cards with the new abilities.

Oshannus is a card that I will definitely try to max if I am able to get it at a decent price.

I am struggling for days in Diamond, so I should try moving up to Champion so that I get more chests and a higher chance to get these new cards through chests.

Anyways that's it for now...

I can't wait to see some of those Legendaries countered. But I fear Crowling will be even more issufferable than he already is.

The Efreet seems a good counter to the Sandworm mostly IMO and I think that rebalance is needed as is way too powerful.
