Deuce McAllister 2002 Topps NFL Card - New Orleans Saints Running Back

Ah yes, another legend of my childhood. As much as I may think I know about some of these more well-known players, I always learn something new. There's always details I either forgot or simply never even knew about a player.

I realize as I do these posts, I am building a sort of second database of my cards. Thanks to the search function on Peakd, maybe one day I can just search the cards up in the community and re-learn about these players and appreciate the cards at a deeper level. It could save me a lot of future researching/googling if I simply look up my own card post in the community. I'll already have a ready made condensed post about the player. All the info I'd want in a post I created. My own wikipedia sort of LOL.

I don't know, trippy stuff I guess. I should adopt this mindset a bit for other ideas.

Of course, hopefully someone that wanders upon this post will learn something new too.

But yes, Deuce McAllister is another OG early 2000's star running back that I remember quite well from my childhood. Deuce was a powerful, elite running back that helped the Saints be not so terrible in the early 2000's. Dude was as good as it gets at the running back position when he was in his prime.

Man, what a TRIPPY video. It's like I'm eight again.

Deuce is absolutely a New Orleans Saints legend. Deuce had a small window of elite play, but man were those years special. Looking back now, it's funny to see that those elite years he had were literally right when I started watching football, in 2002.

After 2006, Deuce's career fizzled away and he retired after the 2008/2009 season, playing his entire eight year career in New Orleans.

I recall seeing Deuce's career come to an end as a kid, and I remember being sort of sad his career came to an end rather quickly. At the time, I had no idea that players' careers could be so short, I kind of thought players played longer. That was one of the first times I started to understand that NFL players did not always have super long careers, especially running backs.

Nevertheless, despite Deuce's prime years not producing much post-season success for the Saints, Deuce's great New Orleans Saints legacy would end beautifully with a Super Bowl Championship after the team signed him during the 2010 Playoffs. It was more of an honorary signing due to his legendary status. Still, he was on the team when the Saints won it all. Deuce was only off the roster for a year, and the guy absolutely deserved it for all he gave to that team for so many years.

This card might as well be a rookie card, but it's just a year off unfortunately. Still nice that I own this one! I love running backs!
