Cade McNown Upper Deck Ionix 2000 NFL Card - Chicago Bears QB

I've owned this card as long as I can remember. I own several of these Ionix cards from 2000 and still think they're designed well to this day. I'm always impressed to see how well cards keep their quality if taken care of.

As long as I've owned this card, I always assumed that Cade McNown was related to the well known football family the McCowns, that include Josh, Luke, and Randy. But after looking Cade up I realize that his last name is obviously just slightly different.

Cade's NFL career would only last one more season after this card's release unfortunately. Cade didn't quite turn out how the Chicago Bears had hoped it would after taking him with the twelfth pick in the 1999 NFL Draft.

Despite his NFL career not exactly panning out, in the grand scheme of things, McNown had a pretty cool football career, and accomplished a lot of things that I'm sure others would be jealous of. Being a first round pick is cool by itself even though he didn't really do much after that.

McNown had an excellent, very memorable collegiate career at UCLA being the starter virtually all four years he was there. I'm sure he is considered a legend out there.

At UCLA McNown accomplished:

  • 10,708 Career Passing yards
  • 84 Total Career Touchdowns
  • Heisman Trophy Finalist
  • All-American
  • Johnny Unitas Award Winner
  • Pop Warner Trophy Winner
  • Cotton Bowl MVP
  • Rose Bowl Hall of Fame
  • and more

McNown would end up passing for 3,111 yards in the NFL, along with scoring 19 total touchdowns. He also rushed for 486 yards in his NFL career.

Overall that's a solid football career.

It was fun to learn about Cade a bit. I must have looked at his card hundreds, if not thousands of times. It feels pretty good to actually learn a little more about him. I'm sure there's some die hard UCLA fans that remember and care about this dude, and possibly this card.

Here's the cool looking card!
