Alexander Volkov UFC Panini Prizm Card 2021
Alexander Volkov is an experienced and high level Russian UFC Heavyweight in the prime of his career. At this point I believe he will challenge for the belt in the next two years.
Volkov's striking heavy style is really fun to watch. He can beat anyone in the world, especially at his rate of improvement in the cage. He seems to be getting better and better in there even after a couple of losses in his UFC career, his ability to bounce back has been fun to watch. That is the sign of a possible champion.
Volkov is a really tall dude standing at six feet seven inches tall. Sometimes tall dudes seem too lanky and reliant on their size. But one thing I have noticed about Volkov, in addition to his skills improving in the octagon, is that he is getting more muscular. It looks like he is like, lifting more weights or something. Less jiggle to him. So now his tall self is filling in more, and he seems to be just in better shape. He's looking a bit more like a unit, rather than just a dude competing at heavyweight because he's so tall. I mean, when you are 6'7" and can really put on some muscle, look out. Volkov already seems to be low-key a bit faster and more athletic than people might realize.
But yeah, I'm becoming a fan of Volkov the more I watch him. I hope his career develops nicely. He is only thirty-three years old with a ton of MMA experience. He's been a pro MMA fighter since 2009. Before finally joining the UFC in 2016, Volkov was a heavyweight champion in two other notable MMA organizations, M-1 Global and Bellator MMA. That's pretty cool and I did not actually know that before researching him. Probably adds to why I think he can become a champ in the UFC.
Alexander Volkov has been in 43 professional fights, amassing a record of 34-9. Those facts as well as his championship history, make me feel pretty good about having his card. He's fought so much that I may not know some notable victories of his, but there are plenty notable names that I do recognize.

- Fabricio Werdum
- Greg Hardy
- Walt Harris
- Alistair Overeem
- Marcin Tybura
That's quite a list!!! Volkov is 8-3 in his UFC career and he hasn't lost to any average fighter by any means. He has been defeated by good talent like Derrick Lewis, Curtis Blaydes, and Ciryl Gane. Blaydes is top five material, Lewis is a star and former title challenger, and Gane is literally the current Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion and is fighting for the title next month.
I think considering Volkov's entire body of work, his fan friendly fighting style and his solid momentum he has in his career, I will not be surprised to see him fighting for, and winning, a UFC title.
