Muchos humanos, que han tenido o tienen gatos con polidactilia afirman que estos gatos pueden cazar mejor, agarrar con mayor facilidad sus juguetes, tienen mejor apoyo en la nieve, entre otras muchas ventajas, pero hasta ahora los estudios científicos solo afirman y aseguran que esto no impide para nada que estos gatitos tengan una vida totalmente normal, pero no han encontrado hasta ahora ninguna evidencia que les permita afirmar que los gatos con polidactilia están más aventajados que otros en algunos aspecto que a otros.
